Volunteers Recognized at AgeSpan Appreciation Luncheon
Volunteers shared smiles and stories at a luncheon held in their honor to celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Month. More than 200 people attended the event, which was held at Salvatore’s Restaurant on May 1, 2026. It was an opportunity for volunteers, staff, and members of the AgeSpan Board of Directors and Advisory Council to come together to recognize their impact on older adults in the 28 cities and towns AgeSpan serves.

Extending our Reach
Last year, more than 400 volunteers served more than 90,000 hours across the organization, extending AgeSpan’s reach in the community. They delivered meals to older adults and people with disabilities through the Meals on Wheels program, provided information and counseling for those applying for Medicare through SHINE, helped fight fraud, waste, and abuse with the Senior Medicare Patrol, and so much more. By sharing their time and expertise, volunteers ensure more older adults can live in our community with dignity, connection, and independence.

“Your generosity, compassion, and commitment are what make our mission come alive every single day,” AgeSpan CEO Joan Hatem-Roy told volunteers. “Thank you for choosing to give your time to this work. Thank you for being such an essential part of our community. And thank you for inspiring all of us with your dedication.”
Making our Mission Possible
Volunteers heard from AgeSpan consumers, staff, and fellow volunteers in this video presentation, played during the event.
In addition to the Meals on Wheels, SHINE, and SMP programs, volunteers are an essential part of AgeSpan’s Ombudsman, Money Management, Mobile Market, and Family Caregiver Support programs. Whatever your skills and interests, AgeSpan has a volunteer opportunity for you.
