“It’s not a Curse – It’s Dementia” was the theme for the Southeast Asian Caring for the Caregiver event at The Community Family in Lowell – facilitated by Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley Family Caregiver Support Program and the Merrimack Valley Alzheimer’s Association Community Partnership.

Over 75 caregivers enjoyed breakfast and were able to steal a few hours to care for themselves. The event included a speaker from the Alzheimer’s Association MA/NH Chapter to review the signs of Alzheimer’s, access to resources, stress management tips, entertainment by the Angkor Dance Troupe. Bob DeMarco from the Alzheimer’s Reading Room sums it up best with his quote “Alzheimer’s caregivers ride the world’s biggest, fastest and scariest emotional roller coaster everyday”. Thank you to all caregivers for their compassion and selflessness and to our professional partners for making this event a wonderful success.
