Power of Pets Event Raises Funds for Older Adults and their Pets
The AgeSpan Power of Pets fundraiser was a dog-gone good time!
This event, which was held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at BareWolf Brewing in Amesbury, featured opportunities to network, raffle prizes, a competitive game of Pet Bingo and, of course, a few lovable furry friends. AgeSpan raised more than $10,000 at the event. Proceeds will go to the Power of Pets program, which provides financial support to older adults for pet care expenses.
Anyone who has had a pet knows the joy, companionship, and comfort they bring. For many, they are more than just pets. They are part of the family. Since it began in 2022, the Power of Pets program has helped more than 500 people age 65 and older pay veterinary bills and other expenses for their pets. Whether it’s a check-up, medication, or grooming, the program helps keep pets healthy and with the people who love them.
Research shows what pet owners already know: the bond between people and pets is life changing. Pets help reduce loneliness, ease stress, and even support better physical health, leading to fewer doctor visits. By helping older adults care for their pets, the program improves the health of both.
