Ask Joan: AgeSpan seeks submissions for “50 Over 60”
This year marks a significant milestone for AgeSpan, as we proudly celebrate 50 years of service to older adults and helping them stay independent and live their best lives!
I’m proud to have been part of this organization for more than 35 years and while much has changed, one thing has remained constant: The Merrimack Valley and North Shore are filled with older adults whose lives inspire us. Whether it’s a veteran who now volunteers to deliver meals to homebound people in our community, a grandmother raising her grandchild, or someone who organizes exercise classes at their local senior center, there are so many positive examples of what aging looks like in our communities.

CEO of AgeSpan
As part of our 50th anniversary celebration, AgeSpan would like to amplify the voices of aging in our communities by highlighting individuals through our “50 Over 60” initiative. In May of this year, we’ll release a list of 50 older adults who inspire us through healthy aging, intergenerational experiences, community service, caregiving, or advocacy and activism. If you know of someone age 60 and over and living in our service area who inspires you by the way they live, we invite you to submit their information to be considered for our 50 Over 60 listing.
To make a submission, fill out the form: https://forms.office.com/r/n39hf6wSUX or scan the QR code.
You can also call 978-651-3076 or email 50over60@agespan.org
Need inspiration? Since last May, we have been highlighting older adults through our Aging Unbound profiles (found on our website’s blog), which showcase a range of aging experiences and promote the importance of enjoying independence and fulfillment by paving our own paths as we age.
All individuals selected will be highlighted by name, age, town, and photograph in the final 50 Over 60 list at our upcoming 50th Anniversary celebration in May, across print, online, and/or social media.
Submissions for 50 Over 60 will be accepted until January 31, so spread the word and share the form. If you have questions, please contact 50over60@agespan.org .
I look forward to reading your submissions celebrating the accomplishments of older adults and am grateful to be able to share this momentous celebration with all of you!
