Community Resources
Programs that acquire food products through donations, canned food drives, food bank programs or direct purchase and distribute the food to people who are in emergency situations. Some pantries deliver food to people whose disabilities or illnesses make it difficult for them to leave home.
This program is part of the Merrimack Valley Food Bank. Once per month clients withing the Greater Lowell area receive nutritious non-perishable foods, bakery items and produce that are appropriate for their dietary requirements. Volunteers deliver food in their own vehicles.
This agency provides 3-4 days of emergency bagged groceries to low-income individuals and families once per month.
This pantry is a once per month supplementary food assistance program for Tewksbury residents in financial need. Everyone receives a pre-packaged box of food and a bag of canned soups and vegetables. The Open Pantry provides short term food assistance to people in need who reside in Greater Lowell. Distribution hours are Monday-Thursday 9am-12pm and Wednesdays 5:30pm-7pm. The Open Pantry is supported by donations from the community, churches and organizations. It is staffed by volunteers. The building is wheelchair accessible.
This is a privately funded social service agency that provides a food pantry, clothing, emergency relief and referral services to people in need in Newburyport, Newbury and West Newbury. A picture ID and current address ID are required to sign up for services. Limited services are available to people from Amesbury and Salisbury.
Catholic Charities in Lowell provides basic needs services including emergency food, fuel, rent, and utility assistance. It offers a Grandparents as Parents Program and currently runs a support group in Chelmsford which meets the last Monday of the month from 10am-11:30am.
