Long-Term Care Ombudsman
Become a certified Ombudsman and help protect the rights and wellbeing of residents in assisted living, nursing, and rest homes by working alongside program staff.
As a volunteer, you’ll offer:
- A strong voice for residents at your assigned facility, making sure their concerns are heard and respected.
- Support in resolving concerns, including listening to residents and families, helping assess situations, and connecting them with the right information and resources.
- Comfort and clear communication, building trust and being someone residents feel safe talking to.
- Awareness and advocacy for health, safety, and rights, identifying and reporting any serious concerns that could impact a resident’s wellbeing.
- Immediate reporting of abuse, neglect, or mistreatment to the Program Director, ensuring residents are protected.
- Strict confidentiality, keeping residents’ information safe.
Location: Volunteers are placed at assigned facilities in their preferred city or town throughout northeast Massachusetts.
Commitment: Volunteers set their own schedule, usually volunteering a few hours per week anytime between 8AM to 8PM Sunday through Saturday.
