Tewksbury Hospital

This hospital is owned and operated by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and provides comprehensive treatment, care and comfort to adults with chronic medical and mental illnesses. In general the Medical Service patients are diagnosed with a chronic disease and often have multiple co-morbid conditions requiring intense nursing and rehabilitation services for neurological and neuro-behavioral conditions. Specialized services are available for Huntington’s Disease, HIV/AIDS and neurological rehabilitation. The Psychiatric Units evaluate and treat adults 19 years/older with serious mental illness who require the security of a locked unit. Range of services include a physician on-site at all times, around-the-clock nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, psychology services, social services, and an on-site dialysis clinic.

Transitions is a short-term residential recovery for adult men18 years/older with a history of substance abuse problems and awaiting placement in a halfway house. Services include: clinical and self help meetings, individual and group therapy, case management, outside AA/NA meetings and commitments. This program is part of Lahey Health Behavioral Services.
