National Grid (Gas)

In order to be eligible for the low income monthly rate; you must be a residential customer of National Grid, have the gas bill in your name, be eligible for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Prog. (LIHEAP), and must receive one of certain eligible benefits, such as SSI, food stamps etc. If all household residents are 65 years of age or older, or a minor child, your utility service cannot be shut off for non-payment without an investigation by the Consumer Division of the Department of Public Utilities. If you or a regular member of your household has a serious illness and due to financial hardship cannot pay your overdue gas bills, your gas service will not be shut off. However, you must submit a financial hardship form along with a doctor’s statement.
