This is an emergency shelter with 8 rooms that includes 41 beds and 7 cribs. It is divided into three sections: families, single men and single women. It provides a safe, clean and supportive environment for individuals and families seven days per week. Guests are provided with three meals, a place to sleep, showers and laundry services, as well as counseling and referrals for community support. The shelter program requires all guests to develop and adhere to a personal program that addresses structure, planning for the future, and how to save money while staying at the shelter.

Lazarus House orperates thrift stores at the following three locations: Good Shepherd Thrift Store, 412 Hampshire St; Saint Martin’s Thrift Store, 121 Essex St; and St. Frances & St. Clare Thrift Store, 229 South Union St. Their days of operation are Mondays through Saturdays. Store items include appliances, baby clothing and toys, clothing, dishes, furniture, rugs, etc. Lazarus House will also accept donations of wheelchairs, tub chairs, walkers, etc. They are unable to accept items such as hospital beds. Lazarus House guests and others in need receive vouchers for 3 full sets of free clothing twice per year which they select from the thrift stores; items are free of charge for those who cannot afford to purchase them such as victims of arson and floods

St. Martha’s food pantry distributes 4-days of groceries to over 800 families every Wednesday. People receive a number as they enter the building and proceed to a waiting area until their number is called. The setup is like a typical grocery store with shelves stocked with a variety of food products which people are able to select for themselves. Wednesdays 9-2
