The Council On Aging offers a variety of services and programs, including but not limited to, transportation within Chelmsford and into Lowell, weekday congregate lunches, meals on wheels, tax preparation assistance, insurance counseling, an intergenerational program, Senior Tax Rebate Program, trips and social activities. Outreach staff make home visits, provide I&R, and respond to emergency situations. An Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group meets the 2nd & 4th Monday of each month at 1pm. There is also a grief support group offered at the center on Tuesdays 6pm – 7:30pm. Call 978-552-4128 for more information.

They have a Chelmsford Adult Social Day Program to provide a supervised, caring atmosphere Monday through Friday from 8:30-3pm for eligible seniors, while also providing respite and peace of mind for caregivers. Participants receive individual and group attention in a structured setting. Activities and exercise builds confidence and self-esteem while providing fun and socialization for our clients. It also offers companion-respite care for Chelmsford/Westford residents.

Their Companion-Respite Care program which provides companionship and supervisory care to people 60 years/older and those of any age with disabilities. Services offered include preparation of light meals/snacks, conversation, reading, writing, playing cards, and assistance and support (although no personal care or lifting). Emergency services will be contacted if needed. These respite services are available days, evenings, overnights and weekends on a temporary or permanent basis.
