Amesbury Council On Aging Senior Center

The Amesbury COA offers a variety of services and programs including information and referral, recreational activities, workshops/speakers, health and wellness clinics, exercise and fitness activities, weekday hot lunch, SHINE program, and transportation to medical appointments and shopping.

Its Amesbury Caregiver Essentials (ACE) is a free program that provides caregivers with the resources needed to manage the stress associated with caring for a loved one through case management, education, and social and emotional support.

The center offers various support groups to residents throughout the month. Bereavement Support Group every second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Caregiver Support groups are available every first and third Friday of the month, the Men’s Group is available in two groups (group A meets every Wednesday while group B meets every second Friday OR every Friday via Zoom), and a low vision support group meets the second Thursday of the month. The building is wheelchair accessible. Staff will make home visits.

Legal Assistance is made available every first Thursday of the month with a focus on estate-planning and elder law. Appointments are required.

The COA has a Pet Support Program that can supplement the costs of pet food for low income older adults living in Amesbury but they must meet income requirement.

Foot Care Clinics are available at the COA every second Tuesday of the month with Barbara Ullman, cost of this service is currently covered by an awarded grant. Appointments are required.

The Elder Mental Health Outreach Team (EMHOT) is a free, confidential service to the residents of Amesbury, Salisbury, Newburyport, Merrimac, West Newbury, Rowley, and Groveland designed for elders that would benefit from 1-on-1 mental and social services.
