Volunteer Opportunities

Community organizations that are actively seeking individuals with the requisite knowledge, skills and experience who are willing to offer their services and work on a full or part-time basis without remuneration on projects or in positions that benefit the organization itself or the people it serves. Many agencies that provide volunteer opportunities also offer intensive training in the tasks that are required for the job.

  • Mobile Pantry Program

    This program is part of the Merrimack Valley Food Bank. Once per month clients withing the Greater Lowell area receive nutritious non-perishable foods, bakery items and produce that are appropriate for their dietary requirements. Volunteers deliver food in their own vehicles.

  • MV Community Service Corps

    This organization focuses on providing meaningful service opportunities for senior citizens, youth and other individuals interested in servicing communities in the Merrimack Valley. Volunteer programs for adults 55 years/older include the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), the Foster Grandparent Program, and the Intergenerational Program.

  • Ruth’s House, Inc.

    Ruth’s House is a not for profit community based thrift shop that works with over 80 human services agencies in the Merrimack Valley and surrounding New Hampshire communities.   • Bread & Roses, Inc.

    Bread & Roses provides a free full course nutritious community meal to all in need on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 4pm-6pm.   • Open Pantry of Greater Lowell

    The Open Pantry provides short term food assistance to people in need who reside in Greater Lowell. Distribution hours are Monday-Thursday 9am-12pm and Wednesdays 5:30pm-7pm. The Open Pantry is supported by donations from the community, churches and organizations. It is staffed by volunteers. The building is wheelchair accessible.
