Nominate an Older Adult for AgeSpan’s Inspiring Lifelong Learning Awards

Do you know an older adult whose passion for learning lights up the lives of everyone around them? Someone who proves that growth doesn’t stop with age but only gets better? AgeSpan wants to hear their story.

Nominations are now open for AgeSpan’s Inspiring Lifelong Learning Awards, honoring extraordinary individuals aged 60 and older who never stop growing, exploring, and inspiring. These trailblazers defy outdated notions of aging and remind us that curiosity is ageless.

Five exceptional older adults will be honored at AgeSpan’s Annual Meeting on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the scenic Blue Ocean Event Center in Salisbury, MA. The celebration will feature Northern Essex Community College President Dr. Lane A. Glenn as a special guest speaker and promises to be a powerful tribute to resilience, reinvention, and lifelong curiosity.

“These awards embody AgeSpan’s commitment to helping people live vibrant, purposeful lives at every stage,” said Joan Hatem-Roy, Chief Executive Officer of AgeSpan. “We are thrilled to spotlight older adults who are not only enriching their own lives but also inspiring those around them to keep learning and dreaming.”

This call for nominations comes during Older Americans Month and aligns with the 2025 theme, “Flip the Script on Aging”—a powerful invitation to challenge ageist stereotypes and celebrate the freedom, purpose, and opportunity that come with age.

Nominations should include stories or examples of how the nominee is pursuing education, learning new skills, or engaging in personal growth, whether in a classroom, through a hobby, or simply by living with curiosity and intention. Nominees must be 60+ and live in one of the 28 communities AgeSpan serves. One awardee will be chosen from each of AgeSpan’s five service areas: Greater Haverhill, Greater Lawrence, Greater Lowell, Greater Newburyport, and the North Shore.
