SafeLink Wireless (cell phone)

SafeLink Wireless service is a U.S. government supported program for income eligible households provided by TracFone Wireless. It offers free cellular service with 3 different calling plans that include options for texting, international, calling and carryover of unused minutes. Participants can buy additional minutes. Each participating state sets its own eligibility requirements that are based on a person’s participation in a state or federal program or by meeting the income poverty guidelines. In Massachusetts a person cannot be currently receiving Lifeline service through another phone provider. An applicant must also be receiving public benefits such as Emergency Aid to the Elderly, Disabled and Children; social security income; Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program; food stamps; MassHealth; Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children; or fuel assistance. An applicant must also have a residential address, not a P.O. Box.
